NYEC works closely with its members to stay abreast of policy, research and programmatic developments in the fields of youth development, workforce development, and education. In order to provide you with current and useful information, NYEC reaches out to organizations like yours that are both knowledgeable in our fields of practice and that have grown to appreciate the need to expand their efforts and to learn from others. We encourage you to become involved as an NYEC member and would like to provide you with the following opportunities.
YouthNotes is NYEC's monthly e-newsletter, tailored to the needs of NYEC's members, featuring informative articles by respected experts, legislative updates, and information about important events in the field. YouthNotes is accessible to NYEC members only.
Members are encouraged to submit any of the following documents for an upcoming issue to email@example.com.
Feature Article: Topics on a range of issues related to youth development, workforce development and education are acceptable. Executive summaries from recent publications and reports are encouraged. The article word count should be between 1,200-1,500 words; pictures are welcome.
News and Announcements: Timely news topics may include but are not limited to upcoming conferences, recent publications and reports, and funding and grant opportunities.
Attend as a Participant: The Members Forum is an exclusive, members-only, peer-to-peer learning event focused on improving the work of organizations and professionals in the fields of youth development, workforce development, and education. Listed below are a couple of ways you can get involved with the upcoming Members Forum.
Join the Planning Committee: Drive the success of this years Members Forum by participating in conference calls to decide on the Forum's theme, aid in the selection of discussion session topics, assist with the networking reception and night-on-the-town events, and much more.
Be a Discussion Leader: Lead or Co-Lead one of at least 16 discussion sessions focused on a range of topics including policy and advocacy; practice, service delivery and professional development; building partnerships and expanding resources; and working with youth.
Join a Working Group or a Committee
NYEC is pleased to facilitate working groups on a variety of topics that allow members and NYEC staff to work toward common goals and outcomes. Working group participation is open to NYEC members only.
During monthly conference calls, the Working Group helps NYEC to develop recommendations on specific policy proposals, such as reauthorizations of the Workforce Investment Act, Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and Appropriations. It also assists NYEC in its broader policy goals of maintaining a strong advocacy effort on Capitol Hill while encouraging grassroots efforts which enable members to connect directly with their Members of Congress.
